Who is a Grand-Aide?
Grand-Aides, regardless of age, have the temperaments and personalities of a good grandparent: having wisdom, being nurturing and caring, able to stay calm with a sick person, experience in caring for others, ability to coach others, generating respect in patient and community. We have graduated a 35-year-old mother of three who is fond of saying, "Been there; done that. I am a Grand-Aide." Hence the name of the program.
Grand-Aides have had prior training in medical care (such as a Nurse Aide) and then take an added Grand-Aides curriculum.
LIABILITY
Grand-Aides are under close supervision by a nurse, nurse practitioner or physician and do not make any decisions. Nonetheless, malpractice coverage is necessary similar to a nurse aide.
